Sopore: Security forces launched a coordinated multi-location operation across Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district as part of an intensified crackdown against networks associated with the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).
Simultaneous searches were carried out at 26 locations across the region. The joint operation was executed by the Jammu & Kashmir Police in close coordination with teams from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Official sources confirmed that the raid and search drive is directly linked to an ongoing investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The case focuses on investigating alleged underground activities, financial channels, and operational networks tied to the outlawed JeI setup.
Security personnel cordoned off key residential premises and suspected locations across the Sopore belt early in the morning to prevent any attempts to tamper with evidence or evade questioning.
Investigating agencies are reviewing seized documents, electronic devices, and financial records recovered during the raids to trace linkages, asset holdings, and active functionaries operating on behalf of the banned outfit.
The Central Government banned Jamaat-e-Islami under strict anti-terror laws following sustained investigations into its role in supporting subversive activities and secessionist networks in the Kashmir Valley.
Security agencies have maintained a heightened vigil across North Kashmir to dismantle lingering cadres and support networks linked to proscribed organisations.
Further details regarding seizures and formal detentions are expected as security agencies complete search procedures and evaluate the recovered material.
