Chandigarh: A man was killed and two others were injured after a speeding Porsche Cayenne car allegedly crashed into two scooters, as per media reports.

The incident occurred near a petrol pump on Monday evening.  The car, reportedly traveling in the wrong direction and at high speed, collided with the two two-wheelers, resulting in the death of the man, who was riding one of the scooters, after he was thrown off and lost his leg.

Meanwhile, the two women, riding the second scooter, sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

The force of the impact caused the Porsche to skid for some distance before crashing into an electric pole, causing additional damage. One of the scooters was completely wrecked, while the Porsche’s front end, including the tire, was severely damaged.

The police are investigating the incident, and a video from the scene showing the aftermath of the crash has surfaced online.

Authorities are working to gather more details and determine the exact cause of the accident.

This incident follows a similar tragedy that took place last month after a speeding BMW crashed into the divider on Mumbai’s Coastal Road in Worli while attempting to overtake other vehicles. The impact left the luxury car severely damaged, but the driver only sustained minor injuries, according to officials. In a similar incident, a 21-year-old man lost his life in Thane last October when a speeding Mercedes collided with his two-wheeler from behind. The driver fled the scene, and the high-end car was later discovered in a paid parking area.

Meanwhile, in June last year, a 17-year-old, allegedly intoxicated, drove his Porsche into two techies, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, killing them. The juvenile was granted bail within 15 hours, sparking questions about the decision. As part of his bail conditions, the court instructed him to study traffic rules, work with the traffic police for 15 days, and write an essay on the societal impact of road accidents.
