Sunjay Kapur Inheritance Battle: Karisma Kapoor’s Children Seek Call Details, Forensic Probe of 'Will'

New Delhi: In a fresh escalation of the Sunjay Kapur inheritance battle, actor Karisma Kapoor’s children have now sought Call Detail Records (CDRs), mobile phones, and forensic scrutiny of their father's alleged Will. 

Reports indicate that Karishma Kapoor's children have moved multiple applications seeking preservation of crucial evidence, including CDRs and phones of the first defendant and Late Sunjay Kapur. The Registrar has noted that CDR preservation is time-sensitive as telecom records are retained only for a limited period, and has granted two weeks’ time to file replies. The court has also heard arguments on the plaintiffs’ plea for inspection of the original alleged Will with forensic and handwriting experts.

Objections were raised by the first defendant (Priya Sachdeva) but the plaintiffs (Karishma Kapoor and her children) argued that inspection is essential for fairness and natural justice.

All applications are now listed before the Registrar on February 26.

Here's What Sunjay Kapur's Sister Said to Republic

The inheritance row got murkier after a defamation case was filed against Sunjay Kapur's sister Mandhira Kapur Smith by her brother's widow Priya Sachdeva Kapur.

In an exclusive conversation with Republic TV in January 2026, Mandhira described the situation as unfortunate but affirmed that it is true Sunjay was actually involved in certain matters central to the dispute. She agreed with her 80-year-old mother Rani Kapur's allegation that the family trust named 'Rani Kapur Family Trust' was created through forgery and manipulation by Sunjay and his third wife Priya Sachdeva. 

“It is unfortunate we are finding out this stuff now...And it's something we have to call out because the entire estate of my father's was left to my mother. And it was to be divided after my mother's sole beneficiary. It was to be divided between all the three siblings and...grandchildren,” she said.

This Christmas, a heartfelt tribute to their late father, Samaira and Kiaan, paid a tribute to their father, posting a photo on Instagram, wearing matching jerseys from Sunjay Kapur's polo club.

The jerseys had "Aureus Polo" printed on them. Kareena Kapoor shared this photo from her Instagram handle with the caption, “My Christmas Angels.”

Who was Sunjay Kapur

Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, an auto components giant. He was married to Karisma Kapoor, with whom he had two children, Samaira and Kiaan. However, the couple fell apart and following their divorce in 2016, Sunjay Kapur married Priya Sachdev. The couple has a son, Azarias. 

Priya Sachdev has a daughter, Safira, from her earlier marriage to Vikram Chatwal, a well-known hotelier.

Sunjay Kapur died on June, 12, 2025 in London.
