Holi 2025 will be celebrated on March 14. The festival of colours will coincide with a rare celestial event - a lunar eclipse. The Chandra Grahan will be visible from various parts of the world and is expected to last for 65 minutes. The eclipse will occur during the last moon of winter, which is known as the Worm Moon.

A total lunar eclipse happens when the sun, moon and earth align and the earth casts its darkest shadow on the moon, creating what is known as Umbra. However, due to scientific elements at play, instead of the moon turning completely dark, it turns into a reddish-orange.

As per reports, the total lunar eclipse will take place on March 14 and can last up to 2 hours based on the location of the sighting. The chandra grahan will be visible from North and South America, Australia and parts of Pacific Ocean. It would not be visible in India, eatern Europe, eatern Africa and western Australia. Stargazers and astronomy enthusiasts can catch the eclipse from other parts of the world.

What to avoid during total lunar eclipse on Holi?

Holi 2025 will coincide with the chandra grahan and there are certain activities are prohibited during the time. Take a look at the dons 'tduring a lunar eclipse.

  • As per reports, it is advised to avoid worshiping or touching idols during the chandra grahan. It is better to chant names of the God instead of doing idol worship.
  • It is also said that one must stay awake during this period as sleeping at the time has negative physical and mental health.
  • According to some astrologers, during the eclipse the influence of Rahu is stong there cooking and eating food should be avoided during this time.
  • Sharp items like scissors, knives and needles should be eclipse.
  • It is also advised to avoid going to places like creation ground which have a negative energy.

  • Some practices that are allowed during the chandra grahan are: 
  • Chanting mantras and remembering God. Specially, reciting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is known to have posrive effects. 
  • Purifying the house and taking a bath is something that should be done during the lunar eclipse. 
  • Donating times, specially grains, is also said to have positive outcomes during a chandra grahan.
