After ICC's HUMILIATION; Ex-Pakistan Cricketer Blasts Mohsin Naqvi Over Team Selection, Claims 'PCB is in ICU'
ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Embarrassment doesn't seem to be finding an end here, as a Pakistan legend has now slammed the PCB over their team selection.
ICC Champions Trophy 2025: There seems to be no end of humiliation for the Pakistan Cricket Board, a former legend from the country is the latest to take a jibe at Mohsin Naqvi and his team. The Pakistan side were the first to be knocked out of the tournament and that came as a shock for them as they were the hosts.
While the country and it's board continue to face severe criticism for it's performance, former legend Shahid Afridi is the latest to take a jibe at the board. He called out the selectors for getting the squad wrong and also claimed that the 'PCB is in ICU'.
“On what basis has he (Shadab) been recalled. What are his performances in domestic cricket or otherwise that he had been picked again,” Afridi said during a media interaction.
‘Pakistan cricket is in ICU’
“All the time we talk about preparations and when an event comes and we flop then we talk about surgery. Fact is Pakistan cricket is in ICU because of incorrect decisions,” he added.
“There is no continuity, consistency in the Board’s decisions and policies. We keep changing captains, coaches or some players but in the end what is the accountability for Board officials,” Afridi added.
CT Presentation Drama Escalates! PCB Complains, But ICC Silent
The Champions Trophy Presentation Ceremony featured ICC Chairperson Jay Shah, BCCI President Roger Binny, Secretary Devajit Saikia, and NZC CEO Roger Twose on stage. Notably, Saikia and Binny serve on the ICC Board as the BCCI Director and Alternate Director, respectively. However, the absence of a Pakistani representative fueled a stir, as Sumair Ahmed, PCB's COO and CT's tournament director, was absent during the ceremony. The Pakistan Cricket Board was disappointed with the snub and demanded a formal response.
Up until now, the apex body of cricket has remained silent over this snowballing issue.
