Champions Trophy 2025: PCB Caught Napping Again, Another Major Security Lapse As Fan Invades Pitch During AFG vs ENG Tie
The Pakistan Cricket Board has been the subject of severe scrutiny as another fan invasion pointed out a major security lapse in the Champions Trophy
It has been a disastrous campaign for the Pakistan Cricket Team in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 after they failed to secure a place in the semi-finals. Even though they had to wait for almost 28 years to get the hosting rights of an ICC event, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side failed to live up to the expectations of their home fans.
The 'Men in Green' started their voyage in the Champions Trophy 2025 with a 60-run defeat to New Zealand. In the 15-match tournament, Pakistan were in dire need of a win in their second group game against their arch-rivals India to keep their hopes alive. But they Rizwan's side succumbed to a six-wicket loss against the Men In Blue.

Pakistan's Poor Security Arrangements During Champions Trophy 2025
Just like Pakistan cricket team's performance, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also failed to organize the extravaganza ICC tournament. Earlier during New Zealand's clash against Bangladesh, a fan entered the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which halted the match for a brief period. Following that, PCB issued a statement stating that they will take a "serious note" of the security breach which happened in Rawalpindi.
“The PCB has taken serious note of the security breach that occurred yesterday when a spectator entered the field of play. Ensuring the safety of players and officials remains our top priority. The individual involved was arrested and presented before a court of law today. In addition, he has been permanently banned from entering all cricket venues in Pakistan," PCB's statement as quoted by Dawn.
Fan Invades Field During Afghanistan-England Clash In Lahore
However, it seemed PCB hasn't learned from their mistake as the Champions Trophy 2025 clash between Afghanistan and England once again witnessed another security breach. After the Afghans clinched a magnificent 8-run win over England, a fan invaded the pitch and ran towards the players to hug them. However, security officials soon arrested the man and the incident has further pointed out the lacklustre management.
Pakistan ended their Champions Trophy 2025 voyage failing to clinch a single win in the tournament. The Men in Green were scheduled to host Bangladesh in their last group stage game but the match was called off after rain played a spoilsport.
