GR Vishwanath- 1979
Gundappa Viswanath scored 106 runs in the 3 matches he had played in the 1979 World Cup. He was the highest scorer for India in the World Cup. His best knock in this World Cup was of 75 runs.
Kapil Dev-1983
You might be aware of this one but here's a recvision. He scored 303 runs in 8 matches and played a pivotal role with both bat and bowl. India won the World Cup as he starred with a strike rate of 108.99.
Sunil Gavaskar- 1987
Sunil Gavaskar was once again India's top run-getter in the 1987 World Cup. He scored 300 runs at an average of 50 in the 7 matches he had played. India reached the semi-final in this World Cup.
Mohammed Azharuddin- 1992
Azharuddin compiled 332 runs in the 7 innings he played in the 1992 World Cup. He hit 4 fifties in the tournament and his best was 93. Unfortunately, India could not do much in this World Cup.
Sachin Tendulkar-1996
Sachin Tendulkar was at his peak in the 1996 World Cup. He was the highest run-scorer of not just India but also took the top position in the tournament. He scored 523 runs in 7 matches.
Rahul Dravid-1999
Rahul Dravid was India's top run-getter in the 1999 World Cup. He scored 461 runs in 8 innings. He played at an average of 65.85 in this WC and registered 2 centuries and 3 fifties.
Sachin Tendulkar- 2003
Sachin Tendulkar, once again was the top run-getter in the World Cup. This time he bettered himself and accumulated 673 runs, which is the highest score by a single player in a World Cup. In this World Cup, Tendulkar played an epic knock of 98 against Pakistan.
Virender Sehwag-2007
The 2007 World Cup was a disaster for Team India. The batting miserably failed in the tournament and among the batters, it was Virender Sehwag, who topped. He scored a century against Bermuda and scored 164 runs in 3 matches.
Sachin Tendulkar-2011

Shikhar Dhawan- 2015
