Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell picked up an injury in his forearm on the opening night of the BBL 2023/24 season. Maxwell complained of the pain while batting for the Melbourne Stars and after perishing at the score of 23, he was seen receiving treatment in the dugout. He sought medical attention twice when he was in the middle and had his forearm tapped.

Glenn Maxwell sustains an injury during a BBL game

Maxwell, who has been in a blistering form lately, has injured his forearm while batting against Brisbane Heat on Thursday. Fighting pain, he kept going and smashed 20 runs off Spencer Johnson's first over. However, he could not continue the onslaught and eventually could only contribute 23 to the scoreboard. Stars were comprehensively beaten by 103 runs, and to make matters worse, Maxwell will miss out on the next match. The 34-year-old was spotted icing his forearm after getting out but the recuperation may take some time. Melbourne Stars will proceed without their captain in the upcoming clash against Perth Scorchers. However, the only respite for the Stars is that there are only three scheduled outings for them in the first 16 days of the season.

Will Maxwell miss IPL 2024?

A couple of days ago, Glenn Maxwell, vowed his allegiance to the IPL and announced that he will continue to take part in the T20 league as long as his legs will allow. Maxwell has been a key figure for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side in the previous three seasons and he has been retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. The injury he has suffered, however, has left fans concerned and wondering whether the muscle pull in the forearm could affect his participation in the upcoming IPL season. While nothing of the sort could be gauged as of now, since there is considerable time left before the start of the IPL 2024 season, by then Maxwell could be expected to become fit.
