'It's Probably Time To Move On': Nasser Hussain Lambasts ENG Skipper Jos Buttler For Poor Captaincy In Champions Trophy 2025
Following England's poor run in the Champions Trophy 2025, former England skipper Nasser Hussain questioned Jos Buttler's role as an ODI captain.
Champions Trophy 2025: Jos Buttler-led England Cricket Team had a poor run in the Champions Trophy 2025, they conceded two consecutive defeats in the ICC tournament and failed to seal a spot in the semi-finals. In their first Champions Trophy 2025 match, the Three Lions faced Australia on February 22 in Lahore, where they suffered a 5-wicket defeat.
In the second game against Afghanistan, the world thought England would easily clinch a win and keep their hopes up to become one of the top four teams in the 15-match tournament. However, Hashmatullah Shahidi's Afghanistan Cricket Team gave a befitting fight against England and clinched an eight-run triumph. With that, the Three Lions put water on their dreams of winning the prestigious tournament.
Buttler's leadership qualities came under the scanner following England's two back-to-back defeats. In two matches, Buttler could only manage to amass 61 runs.

Nasser Hussain Criticizes Jos Buttler's Leadership Abilities
Speaking to Sky Sports, former England skipper Nasser Hussain criticized Buttler's ability to lead a side, saying that the pressure of being a captain has taken the 34-year-old's batting qualities away from him. He added that it's time for Buttler to move on from his captain duties.
"As far as captaincy goes, I don't think Buttler has added that much to this England team, but it's taken away from his batting. And when you add the two together, take away from a great player and you're not gaining with leadership and captaincy, I think it's probably time to move on," Hussain said as quoted by Sky Sports.
