Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test match tickets on sale for just Rs. 15: 'Itne ka idhar 1 samosa aata hai'

As Pakistan and Bangladesh gear up for their upcoming Test series, starting on August 21, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken an unexpected approach to ticket pricing, leading to a wave of reactions on social media. On Monday, the PCB announced that the tickets for the Test matches will be available at incredibly affordable rates, with the cheapest ticket priced at just Rs. 15 (PKR 50).

PCB brutally trolled for selling Test match tickets at Rs. 15

This announcement has sparked widespread discussion online, with netizens, particularly from India, having a field day with the pricing. Many have humorously pointed out that Rs. 15 in India would barely buy you a samosa. One popular comment making the rounds on social media reads, “Itne ka toh idhar 1 samosa aata hai.”

The PCB's official statement outlined the ticket pricing structure, which ranges from PKR 50 for general enclosure seats, like the Wasim Bari enclosure in Karachi, to a staggering PKR 250,000 for a full hospitality box at the National Bank Stadium (NBS) in Karachi. The board has justified these prices by stating their intention to make the matches accessible to a broader audience.

"The tickets for both Test matches have been kept at an affordable rate. The minimum rate starts at PKR 50 (General enclosure/ Wasim Bari enclosure in Karachi) and goes up to PKR 250,000 (full hospitality box) at the NBS in Karachi," read the PCB's statement.

The decision to set such low prices seems to be aimed at attracting large crowds to the stadiums, particularly in a format that has struggled with attendance in recent years. The PCB has failed to fill-up stands in Karachi in past events as well such as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Asia Cup 2023.
