Champions Trophy 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board has pulled up the ICC over the exclusion of the host nation's name being axed from the event logo during the India vs Bangladesh live broadcast. The ICC Champions Trophy logo, which features in the screen's top-left corner, should traditionally feature the name of the host nation. However, the disappearance of Pakistan's name from the broadcast from Dubai stirred controversy. The PCB is seeking an explanation for the omission of the country's name.

PCB Upset Over Host Name Missing Out From IND vs BAN Broadcast

The Pakistan Cricket Board were left shocked when they witnessed that the hosts' names were missing from the broadcast that was aired live from Dubai. The live broadcast of the India vs Bangladesh clash at the Dubai International Stadium did not feature Pakistan's name in the logo, and it caused a stir. It did not feature their name throughout the match-up, which India won by six wickets. The PCB is seeking a response from the ICC over the issue. The situation has left the PCB disgruntled. The ICC has informed the Pakistan Board that a technical error had happened, but they are not convinced of the reason.

"While the ICC is believed to have informally told PCB it was an early technical error, the explanation has left PCB dissatisfied. Graphics are prepared and provided to the live ICC feed well in advance; that Pakistan's name was on the logo for the opening game of the tournament has left PCB unconvinced over why the issue arose for the game between Bangladesh and India," as per ESPNCricinfo's report.

The Road To Champions Trophy Has Been Full Of Disputes

The road to the ICC Champions Trophy has been heavily controversial as Pakistan receiving the hosting rights for the marquee ICC tournament caused a lot of stir. One of the biggest issues for Pakistan was Team India's travel across the border, as the BCCI had informed the PCB that they hadn't received the clearance to play in the region. Both countries have had a lot of political distress, and both teams now only play in the ICC tournaments. In the end, it was finalized that India did not have to travel there and would play their matches in Dubai, with the tournament happening in the Hybrid model. The stadium renovations erupted another situation as it was reported that the PCB had flouted the deadline for the completion of the stadiums before the work was eventually completed a couple of days before the Champions Trophy.

A new chapter in the cross-border rivalry will be added when Team India and Pakistan lock horns at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The match-up will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
