ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Former India captain Virat Kohli has hit a century against arch-rivals Pakistan to silence his critics. His unbeaten match-winning century would surely have given him all the confidence he needed after going through a slump. Now that India have already qualified for the semi-final with two consecutive wins, should Kohli be rested to keep him fresh for the knock-out? Team India could end up playing South Africa or Australia in the semi-final and that is bound to be a big-match. After failing to cash-in after getting set against Bangladesh , Kohli was at his imperious best against Pakistan as he hit a chanceless ton. Now the question that would worry the team management is over Kohli's workload.

Should Kohli be RESTED?

If you ask Kohli, he would not want it as he would be hungry to make more of this good form, but would that be advisable for him?

Kohli, who was the Player of the Match against Pakistan, said that his jib was to stay till the very end.

โ€˜God eventually rewards youโ€™

โ€œMy job was to control the middle overs against the spinners without taking too many risks, towards the end Shreyas accelerated and I got a few boundaries as well. It allowed me to play my usual ODI game. I have a decent understanding of my game, it is about keeping the outside noise away, staying in my space and taking care of my energy levels and thoughts. Very easy to get pulled into the expectations. My job is to stay in the present and do a job for the team. My keynotes to myself are to put my 100% every ball in the field, and then God eventually rewards you,โ€ Kohli said at the post-match presentation.

One reckons Kohli should not be rested as the team is already getting a week-off after the Pakistan game. India take on New Zealand on Sunday which will give ample time to Kohli to recover and get ready. Also, he has finally found form, why would he want to sit in the dressing-room and watch others score?
