Spinless Or Spineless? Pakistan Set To Play All Pace Attack In Home Test
Pakistan set to field an all pace attack for the first test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. This will be the second time in 28-years for them to do so.
Pakistan is all set to take on Bangladesh next week in a home test match in Rawalpindi. This will be the second time in 28-years that Pakistan will field a team with an all-pace attack.
Pakistan do not have any specialist spinner in the squad after Abrar Ahmed was released from the squad to join the Pakistan Shaheens squad. Naseem Shah has also returned to the side to make an all out pace attack which also includes Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Another Bad Decision By Pakistan?
Pakistan cricket has been in absolute shambles due to ongoing power struggle within the team and the board and the creation of factions within the team. Due to these reasons Pakistan has been giving absolutely dismal performances in the matches this play. These reasons also saw Pakistan lose to USA and get eliminated in the group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup.
In recent years Pakistan have taken a series of bad decisions. Pakistan had opted to go with an all-out pace attack back in 2019 also against Sri Lanka and as a result the match ended in a draw.
Pakistan's Bowling Options
Pakistan along with Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi will also have Khurram Shehzad and Mir Hamza along with Mohammad Ali in the squad for the test match against Bangladesh. Pakistan have also released Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam who were both spin options for the Pakistanis.
"You can look into whatever you want. But to start, I think we've got two special spinners. Salman Ali Agha is good enough to be classified as a specialist spinner. From what I've seen, he has a lot of potential with his offspin. Abrar (Ahmed), obviously, is a fine young bowler in the early stages of his career. So, I think we've covered a lot of bases. We have a lot of seam-bowling options and spin-bowling options. Our batting is varied as well. I believe we have all bases covered, and it's a very exciting time for the Pakistan Test side," said Pakistan red ball coach Jason Gillespie when asked about the shortage of spin options.
Abrar and Ghulam are both set to join the Pakistan test side after the conclusion of their 4-day match for the Pakistan Shaheens.
