ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Virat Kohli is arguably the greatest batter of our generation and everytime he walks out to bat - the expectations are high. Sunday was no different when India locked horns with New Zealand in their final group-stage match in Dubai. Kohli, playing his landmark 300th ODI, was expected to rise to the occasion - but he could not.

He was expected to come up with the goods also because of his return to form against Pakistan in the previous game. Glenn Phillips took a stunning one-handed catch to break the hearts of millions of fans across the world and send Kohli packing. Kohli was dismissed for 11 off 14 balls.

But, what followed after that stole the show. The scores of Kohli fans were at it again. They wanted to troll the NZ cricketer, but instead of roasting him, they tagged the wrong ‘Phillips’. Most of the fans got the tagging wrong as they commented mostly on the ‘Philips’, the world-leading lighting brand on Instagram. Most of the unhappy fans resorted to abusing the wrong handle. It got very nasty in the comment section showing how Kohli is treated as a demi-god.

INDIA INNINGS - AS IT HAPPENED

Meanwhile, at the time of filing the copy, India were decently-placed at 196 for six in 41 overs. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are in the middle.

Earlier, India lost the toss and were put into bat by New Zealand. The Indian team got off to a poor start, losing three crucial wickets inside the first 10 overs. India lost the wickets of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and then Virat Kohli.

After that, Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer stitched a vital 98-run stand to get the innings back on track. Patel was then removed by Rachin Ravindra for 42. Iyer went onto score 79. For NZ, Matt Henry with two wickets has been their best bowler.

For the unversed, both these sides have already qualified for the semi-final and the outcome of this game will decide who plays who in the semis.
