ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Rohit Sharma is arguably the best batter of the generation and in his case his numbers speak for him. Yet, he found himself in the middle of a controversy ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final when a Congress spokesperson questioned his ability to lead and body-shamed him.

Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed called Rohit ‘fat’ just after he led India to a win over New Zealand by 44 runs in the final group-stage match. Shama's comments on Rohit drew her a lot of criticism as fans called her comments anti-national. Hours after her post on X went viral, she conveniently deleted it. And now, an old tweet of her has resurfaced showing that she has made such remarks in the past as well.

SHAMA TARGETTED KOHLI AS WELL

In 2018, Shama had slammed Virat Kohli , the then Indian captain, for his "those who prefer English and Australian batsmen should not live in India" remark.

‘Kohli plays a British invented game’

"Virat Kohli plays a British invented game, makes crores from endorsing foreign brands, got married in Italy, names Hershelle Gibbs his favorite cricketer and Angelique Kerber the best tennis player, but tells those who love foreign batsmen to leave India," she said.

Meanwhile, the Indian team would take on Australia in the semi-final of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Tuesday. The match would be played at the Dubai International cricket stadium in Dubai.

What Are India's Chances vs Australia?

Given India's form and considering Australia is a depleted unit, Rohit and Co. would fancy their chances to win. Also what works in India favour is that they have played all their games in Dubai and have a better knowhow of conditions compared to Australia, who would be playing their first game in the country.
