'Lock the dressing room': Wasim Akram shares hilarious idea on how Pakistan can make to WC semis

New Zealand beat Sri Lanka on Thursday comfortably in the ICC ODI World Cup match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Sri Lanka batted first and managed to score 171 runs in 46.4 overs (all out). On the other hand New Zealand chased down the score in 23.2 overs and won the match by 5 wickets. This has led to a big threat for Pakistan as their qualification scenario has become almost unrealistic.

Wasim Akram shares a funny idea for Pakistan to qualify for the semifinals 

A TV host named Fakhar-e-Alam shared a funny idea from Wasim Akram about Pakistan's chances in the 2023 World Cup before their game against England. Even though there was a mathematical chance, Pakistan's dreams were dashed when New Zealand easily beat Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on November 9. With five wickets and 160 balls left, the Black Caps were able to beat Sri Lanka, who had scored 171 runs.

New Zealand's win puts them in a good situation to make it to the semifinals. For Pakistan to have a chance, they need to put in a huge performance against England in Kolkata on November 11. If Pakistan gets 300 first, they will have to keep England to 13 runs in the semi-final. If they bowl first and keep England to 100, they will have to chase down the score in 2.5 overs, which will be hard and require a win with 283 balls to spare.

Akram joked about a strange plan he thought would help Pakistan's chances of making it to the semi-finals. According to Alam on A Sports, the senior said that Pakistan should score a lot of runs and then lock the England team in their locker room so that their batters could be "timed out." This is a silly but unrealistic way to win. Wasim Akram said: 

“Make whatever score that is possible and then go and lock the dressing room of the England team for 20 minutes so that all their batters get timed out.”
