It was another day, another win for Rohit Sharma and Co. in the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. Team India defeated England by 100 runs in their recent CWC 2023 clash and have moved to the top of the points table with six wins out of six games. The IND vs ENG ODI World Cup 2023 match was the first game of the tournament in which the ‘Men in Blue’ were not chasing.

Indian bowlers steal the show in Lucknow against England 

On being asked to bat first for the first time in the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Indian team didn't start off well and lost opener Shubman Gill for a score of nine runs. England didn't have to wait for the second wicket as Virat Kohli departed for a score of 0 runs. Team India was not able to settle after the double that they lost another wicket for a score of 40 runs Shreyas Iyer departed for a score of 4 runs. However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was steady at one end and firstly added 91 runs for the 4th wicket along with KL Rahul, whereas put up a 33-run stand for the 5th wicket along with Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit departed after scoring 87 runs, but Surya took the team to 229/9 by playing a knock of 49 runs.

Chasing the target, England lost wickets at regular intervals and lost their first seven wickets for a score of 98 runs. Big names such as Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Jos Buttler, and Ben Stokes were dismissed cheaply by the Indian bowlers. Indian pacer Mohammad Shami ended the match with a four-wicket haul whereas Jasprit Bumrah also picked up a three-fer.
