About Providence Stadium

Owned by the Government of Guyana, the Providence Stadium was specifically built for the 2007 World Cup. While it is primarily used for cricket matches, the venue could be converted into a multi-use facility. It was established in 2006 and replaced Bourda as the national stadium in the area, which is why it is also known as the Guyana National Stadium.

Pitch Conditions

Historically, the Providence Stadium doesn't provide a high-scoring affair. It is a slow surface which assists spinners big-time. Bowling first will have an added edge, as chasing will be challenging.

Venue Facilities

Now an iconic landmark in the West Indies, the Guyana National Stadium is a well-established venue which matches international standards. It includes VIP boxes, media centres, and press conference rooms, as well as an upgraded flood lighting system. Its cutting-edge floodlighting technology makes it suitable for both day and night matches. In addition, teams and players can use practice nets and dressing rooms.
