Barcelona and Osasuna's La Liga game had to be postponed following the death of their first team doctor before the match.
FC Barcelona who are currently the leaders of the La Liga ahead of Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid postponed their match against Osasuna which was scheduled to take place yesterday following the death of their first team doctor. Barcelona who currently lead the La Liga have 57 points to their name and hold a one point lead over second placed Atletico Madrid and three points ahead of Real Madrid. Barcelona who are currently looking to pull even further away from Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.
Barcelona Postpone Osasuna Game Following Team Doctors Sudden Passing
FC Barcelona's first team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia passed away suddenly yesterday leading to Barcelona requesting Osasuna for the game to be postponed on to a later date. Fans were informed about the game being postponed 15 minutes before the scheduled kick off time.
Barcelona released a statement following Garcia's passing as they offered their heartfelt condolences to the friends and family of their first team doctor.
“Deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia this evening,” said FC Barcelona in their statement.
“Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time,” the statement further stated.
Barcelona did not reveal the cause of death but according to local media reports, it was due to medical reasons.
Barcelona Players And President Offer Condolences
Following the death of their first team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia, Barcelona players and President Joan Laporta offered their condolences. Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo took to social media platform X to offer his condolences.
“Unbelievable. Rest in peace Doc. Much strength to the family and friends. May God strengthen their hearts in this difficult time,” wrote Ronald Araujo.
“The players, staff and coach were all incredibly sad because he was a man loved by everyone. We thought it was best to ask for the game to be postponed," said Barcelona president Ronald Araujo.
