Real Madrid Defender Raul Asencio Faces Death Chants From Real Sociedad Fans During Copa Del Rey Clash

Real Madrid clinched a 1-0 win over Real Sociedad in the first leg match of the Copa Del Rey semi-final at the San Sebastian. It was Endrick's goal in the 19th minute of the match which quietened the home fans. Even though the Los Merengues produced plenty of attacks but they had to end the game with just 1-0.

Real Madrid were booming with confidence following their stunning victory over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) knockout stage. Even though most of the first team players were benched by Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, but still they showcased a quality performance on February 27.

How Things Have Turned At Anoeta Stadium During Madrid vs Sociedad Clash

Everything was going well for the away side in the initial stage of the game but just minutes before the first half whistle the match was halted after the home fans started chanting slurs aimed at the Real Madrid young defender Raul Asencio.

In the added minutes of the first half, Asencio was shown a yellow card following his harsh tackle on Sociedad forward Ander Barrenetxea. Beginning of the second half, Ancelotti decided to bring in Lucas Vazquez in place of Asencio.

Carlo Ancelotti Reacts To Real Sociedad Fans Chanting Slurs At Raul Asencio

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti reacted to the incident and said that it is not nice for any player to have an entire stadium chanting "die" at them. The head coach added that he decided to pull him off the game since the young centre back's his feelings may have got to him.

β€œI brought Asencio off at half-time because he was a bit wound up and had a yellow card. It's not very nice for anyone to have an entire stadium chanting "die" at you, so that had an effect on him. I opted to bring him off because his feelings may have got to him during the game," Ancelotti was quoted by Real Madrid's official website.

The second leg match of the Copa Del Rey semi-final between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad will be played on April 2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
