Google Gemini Goes Big at MWC 2025: Upcoming Features
Google said its new Gemini features will be rolled out as part of the Gemini Advanced subscription in the Google One AI Premium plan for Android.
Google took to the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona to unveil advanced features of its AI assistant, Gemini, that let users ask questions based on a video or the phone’s screen. According to the company, the new Gemini Live tools will help users engage better with its AI assistant to look for more accurate answers without needing to type.
Gemini Live will get screen-sharing capabilities through a new “Screenshare” feature, which lets users share the phone’s screen contents with Gemini and ask contextual questions. In a demo video, Google showed a user asking Gemini Live what would go well with a pair of baggy jeans appearing on the screen. Gemini quickly looks for clothing that it thinks pairs well with those jeans.
Another feature that Google showed off are video recording capabilities coming to Gemini Live. Announced last year at the I/O, the new functionality would allow users to film anything they want using the phone’s camera and ask Gemini questions based on what is in the video in real-time. The demo video shows a user asking about the best glazes for a vase they fired, with Gemini telling a good match from a number of options. The AI assistant even mentioned the location of the glaze from the assortment to make it easier for the user to find.
The new screen-sharing and video-recording capabilities will be rolled out in March. However, these will be rolled out as part of the Gemini Advanced subscription in the Google One AI Premium plan for Android.
