BBC Top Brass Resign After Trump Speech Editing Scandal, US President Reacts

BBC chiefs Tim Davie and Deborah Turness have stepped down following a major controversy involving the edited version of a speech by U.S. President Donald Trump. A Panorama segment used altered footage that made it appear as though Trump had incited the Capitol riots, triggering widespread outrage.

The White House condemned the BBC, calling it a “propaganda machine” after the incident. In his resignation, Davie cited extreme pressure and growing political polarization, while Turness acknowledged errors but rejected claims of systemic bias.

Trump reacted sharply, branding the BBC leadership “corrupt journalists” and accusing them of undermining democracy. The scandal has shaken the public broadcaster and raised serious concerns about impartiality and editorial integrity.
