Japan: 6.7 Magnitude Tremor Prompts Tsunami Warnings In Hokkaido

Japan's Meteorological Agency is warning people near the northern Pacific coast to be on the lookout for a large earthquake after a tremor on Friday caused a tsunami advisory. A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck 17 kilometers off the eastern shore of Aomori at 11:44 a.m. Later, tsunami waves reached heights of 20 cm in parts of the prefectures of Hokkaido and Aomori. The tsunami advisory was withdrawn early in the afternoon.
