The United States has halted all immigration applications from Afghan nationals after two National Guard troops were shot near the White House in Washington, D.C. The decision by the Donald Trump administration follows the arrest of an Afghan national linked to the broad-daylight shooting just two blocks from the White House.

“Effective immediately, the processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals is suspended indefinitely pending further review of security and vetting protocols,” the US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced in a post on X.
