Nepal Flood Death Toll Crosses 1,200; Army & Citizens Clear Mud-Choked Houses

Devastating flash floods in Nepal have pushed the death toll past 1,204 as of September 3, 2026, with nearly 3,900 people still missing. More than 11,993 individuals have been rescued so far, including over 300 foreign nationals, while around 590 foreigners from multiple countries remain unaccounted for. The disaster, concentrated in areas like Nuwakot, left homes buried under thick layers of mud, streets and buildings completely silted, and riverbanks drastically altered by the surge. Rescue and recovery efforts continue with locals and the Nepal Army working to clear debris from damaged houses. Relief supplies, including essential food and drinking water, have been sent to the worst-hit families in Kathmandu and surrounding regions as search operations and cleanup remain underway.
