Two back-to-back earthquakes, a 7.1 and a stronger 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026, causing significant damage in Caracas and other areas. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez declared a nationwide State of Emergency, suspended classes, closed non-essential services, and ordered evacuations of damaged buildings. The quakes are among the strongest to hit Venezuela in over a century.
