Venezuela Earthquake: Global Rescue Operations Enter Critical Phase As They Race Against Time

Rescue teams from Venezuela and around the world are racing against time to find survivors trapped under rubble four days after two powerful earthquakes struck the northern state of La Guaira. The death toll has reached 1,450, with thousands still missing. While international teams and local civilians continue desperate search efforts, criticism is growing over the Venezuelan government’s response, with many saying civilian-led efforts have been more effective. Even as the critical 72-hour golden window for rescues has passed, some survivors are still being pulled from the debris, giving anguished families a glimmer of hope. Over 2,600 rescue workers and nearly 140 specially trained dogs are working around the clock in the affected areas. The scale of the disaster has triggered a massive international humanitarian response.
