Tehran: Mystery over the safety of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali's is mounting after his house was attacked in the ongoing US-Israel strikes on Saturday. A satellite image has now surfaced showing the extensive damage to Khamenei's secure compound. Meanwhile, Iranian authorities said that they had moved Khamenei to a safe area before the attack.

The image, taken by Airbus, shows a thick plume of black smoke emanating from the Iranian leader's compound following the attack. Further, Khamenei's residence seems to have purportedly collapsed after the bombing. Area near Khamenei's office was also targeted by US-Israeli airstrikes.

‘As Far As I Know, He’s Alive': Iran Minister

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi stated that “as far as” he knows, Iran's supreme leader Ayatolalh Ali Khamenei is still alive. This comes amid rumours of the assassination of the Iranian leader. Several unconfirmed reports of his assassination is doing rounds on social media.

Israeli Strikes & Retaliatory Attacks

Soon after the US and Israeli launched airstrikes, Iran launched retaliatory missile barrages toward Israel. The confrontation quickly spilled beyond Israel and Iran. Air raid sirens were activated in Bahrain following reports of a missile threat near the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet. Explosions were also reported in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE, Doha in Qatar and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. These cities host key American military installations, including Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE and Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

US President Donald Trump announced the launch of “major combat operations” in Iran, stating that the objective was to topple Iran's government and eliminate imminent threats to American personnel and interests. He accused Tehran of backing militant proxies.

Following the explosions, a bunch of high school students in Iran were heard cheering and chanting “I love Trump”.

Iran's Defence Minister Killed: Report

As per reports, Iran's Defence Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Revolutionary Guards commander Mohammed Pakpour are believed to have been killed in Israeli attacks.
