As India celebrates its 76th Independence Day, French President Emmanuel took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express France's solidarity with New Delhi. In his special post to mark the historic day, Macron shared some glimpses of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to France last month, where he took part in the Bastille Day Parade. In his tweet, Macron assured that India can count on France as a “trusted friend” and “partner”.
The visuals shared by Macron start off with Prime Minister Modi receiving the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour. “Congratulations to the Indian people on your Independence Day! A month ago in Paris, my friend @narendramodi and I set new Indo-French ambitions all the way to 2047, the centenary year of India’s Independence,” Macron wrote on Twitter. “India can count on France as a trusted friend and partner, always,” he added.
After receiving the highest civilian honour in France, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the French President. “It’s not just an honour for me, but it is also an honour for 1.4 billion of my fellow Indians,” PM Modi said after receiving the honour.
From the Bastille Day parade to the grand dinner at Louvre
Last Month, Prime Minister Modi received a grand welcome in France, making sure that the European nation felt the Modi magic. The Prime Minister made history after becoming the second Indian Prime Minister to take part in France’s Bastille Day Parade. Before PM Modi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had attended the ceremony in 2009.
During PM Modi’s visit, the grand Champs-Élysées in Paris witnessed the prowess of Indian might after a 241-member tri-Service Indian armed forces contingent led by a military band also participated in Europe's oldest and most significant military parade. Prime Minister Modi was also honoured with the famous Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, the highest civilian award in France. After concluding a grand dinner reception at Louvre, both Macron and PM Modi pledged to strengthen the Indo-French ties, all the way to 2047.
