Tehran: Iran Supremo Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei on Thursday issued a rare public address, in which he warned the Americans that the only place they belong in the Persian Gulf is at the bottom of its waters. His written statement was read aloud on state TV.

During his address, Khamenei noted that two months have passed since the “world's tyrants' largest military mobilization and aggression” in the region and America's “humiliating defeat” in its own scheme. He added that now a new chapter for the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is taking shape.

Khamenei also stated that one of the unparalleled blessings of God Almighty for the Muslim nations of our region, especially the noble people of Islamic Iran, is the gift of the “Persian Gulf.”

He called the Persian Gulf a blessing beyond a body of water that has shaped part of their identity and civilization and, in addition to being a connecting point for nations, has created a vital and unique path for the global economy in the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman.

“This strategic capital has aroused the greed of many devils in past centuries, and the history of repeated aggressions by European and American foreigners, insecurities, losses, and numerous threats to the countries of the region are just a corner of the sinister plans of the world’s arrogant powers against the inhabitants of the Persian Gulf region, the most recent example of which was the recent plotting of the Great Satan,” he added.

‘Future Of Persian Gulf Will Be Without America’

"By God’s help and power, the bright future of the Persian Gulf region will be a future without America, one serving the progress, comfort and prosperity of its people,” Khamenei said in the statement.

“We and our neighbors across the waters of the Persian Gulf and the (Gulf) of Oman share a common destiny. Foreigners who come from thousands of kilometers away to act with greed and malice there have no place in it - except at the bottom of its waters," he added.

Mojtaba Khamenei's written statement was read aloud on Iranian state television by an anchor. Notably, he has not made a public appearance ever since his father, Ali Khamenei, was assassinated and he succeeded him as the Supreme Leader of Iran. This comes amid speculations that he has been injured in the US-Israeli attacks on Iran.

‘Iran Rejecting Foreign Domination’

The Iran Supremo also stated that the nations of the Persian Gulf region had been accustomed to the “silence and humiliation” of their rulers in the face of “bullies and aggressors”. Now, they have witnessed with their own eyes, in the past sixty days, the vigilance and courageous struggle of the naval forces the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), alongside the zeal and chivalry of the people and youth of the beloved southern region of Iran in rejecting foreign domination, Khamenei added.

Trump To Rename Strait of Hormuz?

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump triggered fresh controversy after suggesting that the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz be renamed the “Strait of Trump,” amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Trump shared a post on Truth Social featuring a map of the vital maritime chokepoint labeled as the “Strait of Trump,” a move widely seen as provocative as tensions continue to rise around Iran and global oil supply routes.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important oil transit routes, with nearly a fifth of global oil shipments passing through the narrow waterway. The region has been at the center of growing military and diplomatic tensions involving the US, Iran, and its allies.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday described the ongoing US naval blockade against Iran as "genius," asserting that Tehran would have to concede defeat while ruling out any agreement unless it abandons its nuclear ambitions.

"The blockade is genius. The blockade has been 100% foolproof. It shows how good our Navy is, I can tell you that. Nobody's going to play games. We have the greatest military in the world and I built much of it during my first term and we've been building it since and the greatest anywhere in the world, nobody even close," Trump said.

Highlighting economic pressure on Tehran, Trump said, “We've got an amazing military. Now, they have to cry uncle, that's all they have to do, just say, 'We give up. We give up.' But their economy is really in trouble, so it's a dead economy.”
