Domestic passenger vehicle wholesales dip to 3,56,752 units in September 2024: SIAM
The PV segment in India witnessed a slump in sales. As per the data from SIAM, the PV segment saw a 1 per cent decline on a YoY basis.
Dip in PV sales: The passenger vehicle segment in India witnessed a slump in sales. As per the data released by Society of Indian Automotive Dealers Association (SIAM), the passenger vehicle segment saw a 1 per cent decline on a year-on-year basis. The regulatory body stated the two-wheeler segment’s growth of 16 per cent on a year-on-year basis and the three-wheeler segment recorded a 7 per cent growth on a year-on-year basis.

Passenger Vehicle sales:
The passenger vehicle wholesales in India witnessed a decline of 1 per cent on a year-on-year basis. The industry recorded total sales of 3,56,752 units in September 2024. As per the statement released by the regulatory body, the total dispatches to dealers from the automakers stood at 3,61,717 units in September 2023. As compared to August 2024, September recorded a surge in passenger vehicle sales, having a surge of 3,831 units. It registered a growth of 1.07 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
Two-wheeler sales:
The total two-wheeler sales saw a surge of 16 per cent on a year-on-year basis. In September, total two-wheeler sales were recorded at 20,25,993 units. As compared to the same month the previous year, the total dispatch to dealers was recorded at 17,49,794 units. There was a surge of 2,76,199 units, it added. As compared to August 2024, the two-wheeler segment recorded a surge of 3,14,331 units, witnessing a growth of 15.51 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
Three-wheeler sales:
Coming to the three-wheeler segment, the total three-wheeler wholesales saw a 7 per cent rise on a year-on-year basis. The total wholesales rose to 79,683 units, as against 74,671 units in September 2023, SIAM said. The three-wheeler segment also witnessed a surge as compared to August 2024. There was a growth of 9,721 units, registering a surge of 12.19 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
