Tata Motors to BYD: Top 5 EV makers with highest sales in September 2024
The electric vehicle segment recorded a decline in sales in September 2024. Tata Motors secured first place in EV sales in September, followed by MG Motors.
Top 5 EV makers: The electric vehicle segment recorded a decline in sales in September 2024. This segment recorded total sales of 5,874 units in September 2024, registering a decline of 7.76 per cent on a year-on-year basis and 7.32 per cent on a month-on-month basis. As per the data released by the Federation of Automotive Dealers Association, the sales of EVs from multiple auto manufacturers recorded a slump in demand.
Let us look at the top five auto manufacturers with the highest sales in the EV segment in September 2024.
Tata Motors
Tata Motors bagged the first spot in the list. Tata has a wide array of EV portfolios in India. It recorded total sales of 3,621 units in September 2024, registering a decline of 16.28 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Tata Motors also witnessed a decline of 11.38 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
MG Motors India
The second position on the list was secured by MG Motors India. MG Motors recorded total sales of 977 units in September 2024, registering a growth of 9.16 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Despite registering growth, there was a decline of 27.79 per cent recorded on a month-on-month basis by MG Motors India.
Mahindra
Mahindra Auto secured the third spot in the list. It recorded total sales of 454 units in September 2024. Mahindra registered a growth of 26.82 per cent on a year-on-year basis and 43.22 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
Citroen
Citroen managed to secure fourth place on the EV sales chart and recorded total sales of 386 units in September 2024. The manufacturer recorded a growth of 169.93 per cent on a year-on-year basis and 142.77 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
BYD
The fifth place on the list was bagged by BYD India. BYD recorded total sales of 163 units in September 2024, registering a surge of 7.95 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Despite having a surge in sales, there was a decline of 22.01 per cent on a month-on-month basis recorded by BYD India.
