ICC Reveals Prize Money For The Winners Of World Test Championship Final 2025, Sets New Record As The Current WTC Cycle Comes To An End

Australia are all set to appear in their second World Test Championship finals. The Aussies will clash with Temba Bavuma's South Africa who are due to make their maiden appearance in the 'Ultimate Test'

WTC 2025 Final: Pat Cummins's Australia are all set to take on Temba Bavuma's South Africa in the finals of World Test Championship Final. Australia are the defending champions of the coveted WTC mace, whereas the defiant Proteas will make their maiden appearance on the grandest stage of Test match cricket.

This upcoming South Africa vs Australia clash will also mark Cummins and his team's consecutive second appearance in the summit clash. Australia became the only team in the history of the game to win all the major ICC trophies after they defeated India in the WTC 2023 Final. Cummins and Co. will have their eyes set on another record as they build towards the WTC 2025 Finals.

Australia can become the first and the only team to win the WTC mace twice. The Aussies can also become the first team to successfully defend the illustrious silverware.

ICC Announces Record Prize Money For WTC 2025 Final

The World Test Championship Final will be played from June 11 to June 15 at the 'Home of Cricket', Lord's. Much ahead of the summit clash, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a prize money pool for the 2023–25 edition.

The total prize money that will be given to teams is USD $5.76 million, which is more than double that of the previous two editions. The winners of the Australia vs South Africa WTC 2025 Final will be awarded USD $3.6 million, which is more than USD $1.6 million that was given in 2021 and 2023. The runners-up will get USD $2.16 million, which is more than USD $800,000 that was given in 2021 and 2023.

'It’s exciting to announce the winner of the #WTC25 Final between South Africa and Australia will earn $3.6M USD, with the runner-up to receive $2.1M. The significant increase in prize money exhibits the ICC's efforts to prioritize Test cricket and build on the momentum of the first three cycles of the nine-team competition', said Jay Shah, the Chairman of the International Cricket Council.

South Africa Top The WTC 2023-25 Standings

South Africa have entered the summit clash of the World Test Championship in some style. South Africa topped the WTC 2023-2025 points table with a PCT of 69.44. Whereas, the Australians ended the league stage with 67.54. Temba Bavuma will lead the South African side, whereas Pat Cummins will lead Australia in the WTC 2025 Final.
