Schools to Remain Shut in Haryana on October 4 And 5 for Poll Preparations

Gurugram: All schools will remain shut in Haryana on October 4 and 5 given the upcoming assembly elections in the state. This is because several schools have been designated to be voting centres and thus will be closed on October 4 to provide time for necessary preparations before the polling begins. As per the official notice, this two-day closure applies to all government, semi-government and private schools in the state.

The Haryana assembly election 2024 will be contested in a single phase for the 90-membered legislative assembly on October 5 from 7 am to 6 pm and the results will be declared on October 8.

This comes as the campaigning for the polls ended yesterday, October 3, at 6 pm, after parties put in their final efforts before the election.

Haryana Assembly Polls 2024: Voting Details

As many as 1,031 candidates, including 101 women, are contesting in the Haryana elections. The voting will begin at 7 am on October 5 and will end at 6 pm. The results will be declared on October 8. A total of 20,629 polling booths have been set up across the state for the polls. After the intense campaign battle, the Bhartiya Janata Party is aiming for a third consecutive term, meanwhile, the Congress would be hoping for a comeback after a decade.

Nayab Singh Saini ( BJP ) – Ladwa

CM Saini is Contesting from the Ladwa seat.  Saini became Chief Minister after Manohar Lal Khattar’s resignation. Previously, Saini served as Haryana BJP president and was a Member of Parliament representing Kurukshetra from 2019 to 2024.

Bhupender Singh Hooda (INC)- Garhi Sampla

A two-time former Chief Minister of Haryana from 2005 to 2014, Hooda is contesting from Garhi Sampla.

Dushyant Chautala (JJP) – Uchana

Former Deputy CM and JJP Chief Dushyant Chautala is in the fray from Uchana Kalan, a seat which holds his family legacy.

Vinesh Phogat (INC) – Julana

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat recently joined the Congress party after she narrowly missed a medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics in wrestling after her weight exceeded 100 grams.

Anil Vij ( BJP ) - Ambala Cant

He is sitting Home Minister of Haryana and contesting from Ambala Cantt
