After Rajinikanth, Jailer director Nelson Dilipkumar to work with Kamal Haasan?

Nelson Dilipkumar has delivered a massive hit with Jailer. The 39-year-old director had also worked with Thalapathy Vijay in Beast (2022), which underperformed. The success of Jailer is special for him. Now that Jailer is set to zoom past the Rs 500 crore mark in just 10 days, many wonder who will Nelson team up with for his next film. It appears that the filmmaker is in talks with Kamal Haasan.

Nelson made his directorial debut in 2018 with the Tamil dark comedy Kolamaavu Kokila. The film features actress Nayanthara in the lead role and turned out to be a box-office success. Then Nelson transitioned to what is known to be his core style and is also comes fully manifested in Jailer – dark thrillers with absurd comedy.

He directed Maaveeran star Sivakarthikeyan in Doctor (2021). The comedy-actioner also turned out to be a commercial success, which was followed by the Thalapathy Vijay starrer Beast. With only four films in his filmography, the writer-director has carved out a niche for himself in a short span of time. After Rajinikanth, it appears that Nelson is going to work with Kamal Haasan.

Who’s saying what

As per the entertainment portal 123Telugu, Nelson was part of an interview after the success of Jailer. During the conversation, he said that during the making of Beast, he’d met Haasan and they’d agreed to do a film together if they found the right script.

He even said that after Jailer was declared a commercial success, Kamal Haasan called him and congratulated him. There are also rumours that Nelson is gearing up to work with Dhanush on his next film, but there is no confirmation of the same.

As far as Kamal Haasan is concerned, he is working on two massive projects. While he is busy with the Prabhas starrer pan-India sci-fi Kalki 2898 AD he is also working on the sequel to his 1996 film Indian.
