Bollywood Box Office: Stree 2, Tumbbad Refuse To Bow Down In Front Of Devara Juggernaut
While Jr NTR's Devara managed to earn ₹25 crore in its opening weekend in Hindi, it did not affect the business of Tumbbad and Stree 2 to a huge extent.
Devara storm at the box office has affected the business of Bollywood movies, prominently Stree 2 which dipped below the ₹1 crore mark for the first time in 44 days since its release on August 15. Fans are turning up in good numbers to watch the Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer on the big screens and the Hindi audiences have been queuing outside cinema halls to catch the action drama on the big screen.
Meanwhile, Tumbbad has surprisingly managed to face competition from Devara head-on and is running well into its third weekend.
Tumbbad stands its ground
The horror film Tummbad is enjoying a dream run at the box office after its re-release on September 13. By the end of its third weekend, the Sohum Shah starrer has collected ₹28.50 crore in 17 days. Its initial box office run ended with ₹12 crore plus the re-release business has turned it around for the movie.
According to Taran Adarsh, Tumbbad stayed steady in its third weekend, despite a reduced number of shows following the arrival of Devara and the Marathi film Dharmaveer 2 (in Maharashtra ).
Stree 2 holding well against Jr NTR's Devara
Devara is scoring well in the Hindi markets. In its first weekend, it collected ₹29.52 crore, with its business rising each day, indicating a good trend at the box office. Taran Adarsh stated that with the October 2 holiday coming up, the movie will see significant growth.
While Devara is trending well, so is Stree 2 despite its OTT release on Prime Video. The horror comedy made yet another box office record by managing to collect most in its seventh weekend. It proved to be a worthy opponent to Devara and other new Hindi releases.
