Sanya Malhotra’s movie Mrs has been in the spotlight since its release on Zee5. The Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF), a men’s rights organization, accused the film of promoting ‘toxic feminist propaganda’ sparking controversy. Amid this, Emergency actress Kangana Ranaut spoke about the ‘idea of marriage’ and Indian family values on Saturday on a long note on social media. While the Queen actress did not name the film specifically, Reddit users re-shared her posts, speculating it to be a takedown of the Kathal actress.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on February 22, Kangana Ranaut urged her fans to stop "demonising elderly people and comparing women of the house with paid labour." She shares her perspective on marriage and the importance of family, “Please understand marriages are not for attention seeking or validation.” She also claimed Bollywood "love stories have distorted the ideas of marriages" and insisted marriage "should remain as it has always been in this country." Kangana Ranaut is known for speaking her heart out cryptically and while her note did not mention the film name her note indicates the ongoing controversy surrounding Sanya Malhotra’s Mrs.

Kangana referred to the shastras, urging people to preserve social institutions like marriage. She emphasised the importance of joint families as a strength and advised against endorsing divorces, abandoning older parents, or avoiding having children. She stated, "We as a nation must be rooted in our ancient wisdom to be able to reach our future goals (National Flag emoji)."

Her remarks triggered some people, leading to a Reddit post where users labelled her a “supreme hypocrite.” A few users condemned her for targeting Sanya Malhotra, while many questioned why she wasn’t focusing on marriage and household chores instead of pursuing a film career. One user commented, "She is just scared that another curly-hair girl will usurp the throne. She did the same to Tapsee and now Sanya." However, some defended her perspective, stating, "she is right not all marriages are scary."
