Emergency: Troubles seem to be gripping the Kangana Ranaut starrer. The film was scheduled to hit the big screens on September 6, but was halted due to pending CBFC certification. The makers of the movie moved to the High Court to issue a directive on the court's order, but did not find relief. Days later, while the release of the movie still remains uncertain, another legal notice has been issued in the Queen actress' name who is also the director of Emergency.

Chandigarh district court issues notice against Kangana Ranaut

On September 17, an advocate filed a petition against actress turned politician Kangana Ranaut for the controversial portrayal of the Sikh community in the movie Emergency. For the unversed, the political drama is based on the life of the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and shows events from Operation Blue Star, separatist leader Bhindarwale, Punjab riots and the assassination of the then PM. Acting on the petition, the court has summoned the actress.

A district court in Chandigarh has reportedly asked Kangana Ranaut to be present in court on December 5 concerning the complaint filed against her by Ravinder Singh Bassi, president of Lawyers for Humanity. In his complaint, the advocate alleges that Kangana has deliberately tried to malign the image of Sikha and ‘misinterpret historical facts’. As per several media reports, FIRs have been filed under sections  196(1), 197(1), 302, and 299 of the BNSS. The actress is yet to respond to the same.
