On Loveyapa Box Office Failure, Aamir Khan Says 'Accha Hua': Junaid Will Continue To Learn

Aamir Khan has reacted to the lukewarm response to his son Junaid Khan's debut Loveyapa at the box office. His statement on the same has now gone viral.

Aamir Khan's son Junaid recently made his Bollywood debut with the movie Loveyapa. The film also marked the debut of Sridevi's daughter Khushi Kapoor and failed to perform well at the box office. The Lagaan actor has now reacted to the film's lukewarm's response.

What did Aamir Khan say about Loveyapa's failure? 

Taking the setback in stride, Aamir Khan made light of his son Junaid's underwhelming performance in Loveyapa. Speaking to Instant Bollywood the Lagaan actor said, “Accha hua (It’s good that it happened)". He then explained, “I think he’s doing well, and he will continue to learn."

However, the actor praised his son's dedication to his craft and talent. He noted that Junaid has worked hard on the characters he is performing. Aamir added, “While watching Maharaj, I felt he became the person, and in Loveyapa too, he is convincingly Gaurav." He even acknowledged that his son is not as good at dancing and has a problem with social interaction, especially during promotions of movies. Interestingly, Junaid was trolled brutally for his ‘awkward’ body language during Loveyapa's promotion and his chemistry with co-star Khushi Kapoor.


How did Loveyapa perform at the box office

The coming-of-age drama hit the big screens on February 7. Loveyapa opened to a decent ₹ 1.15 Cr and was followed by minimal growth in subsequent days. The movie was removed from most screens in the following week after the release of Vicky Kaushla's Chhaava. In the 9-day theatrical run, the Khushi Kapoor-Junaid Khan starrer amassed a total of ₹ 6.85 Crore at the domestic box office.

Earlier, speaking at the premiere of Loveyapa, Aamir Khan shared, "When I watched the film and saw Khushi (Kapoor), I felt that I was watching Sridevi. Her energy was there, I could see. I am a huge fan of Sridevi." He added, “I always wanted to work with her. She was a brilliant artist. She always kept her talent latent when the camera was off. As soon as the camera starts rolling, she starts showing her true talent. She used to exude an energy which I found to be similar to Khushi Kapoor's performance.” He had also praised the movie called it very ‘entertaining’.
