Ramayana: Yash As Ravana, Sunny Deol As Hanuman To Start Filming For Ranbir Starrer From THIS Date

Ranbir Kapoor, who has been busy shooting for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana in Mumbai, has reportedly completed 90 per cent of shoot.

Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari is busy with the filming of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. The film went on the floors in April this year in Mumbai and the photos of the stars from the sets often go viral. In the latest update, a report suggests that Yash and Sunny Deol will also be joining the cast soon. For the unversed, Yash is playing the role of Ravana, while Sunny Deol is Lord Hanuman.

When will Yash begin shooting for Ramayana?

Pinkvilla reported that Yash will begin filming in December 2024. He is presently busy filming Toxic and only after completing a major chunk of the shooting, he will start with Ramayana. The actor has undergone several look tests for his character in the movie and is excited to explore one of the "most complex characters from Ramayana.

When will Sunny Deol join the sets of Ramayana?

The actor will be shooting after wrapping up the shoot of Border 2. "Much like Ranbir, Sunny Deol has also allotted bulk dates to Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra to shoot for his part in the Ramayana Franchise," the source told Pinkvilla. In mid-2025, filmmaker Nitesh and his team are likely to plan the combination scenes of Ranbir with Yash and Sunny Deol.

Ranbir Kapoor has completed 90 per cent of Ramayana

Ranbir, who started the filming in April, has completed 90 per cent of the work. “He had allotted bulk dates to Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra to play the part of Lord Ram, and the duo have been extremely professional to wrap up the shoot ahead of schedule,” revealed a source. The makers are planning to release Ramayana in 2026. "It’s a labour of love from the team of Ramayana to the audience, and they are leaving no stone unturned to make a film that represents India at a global level,” the source concludes.
