RG Kar Rape-Murder Case: Popular singer Arijit Singh has joined the cry for justice for the rape and murder victim in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital horror. The incident has jolted the entire nation with protests being carried out to deliver justice for the victim and the harshest punishment for the accused. In lieu of this, the singer has released a special Bengali track calling for punishment.

On August 28, days after the horrifying incident, Arijit Singh released his Bengali track Aar Kobe. The feature image of the song shows a hand standing a solidarity with the victim. The description of the song reads, “On 9th August 2024, in the heart of Kolkata, a tragedy shook the nation to its core. The brutal massacre of a young trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College ignited a firestorm of protests across India. This song is a cry for justice, a lament for the countless women who suffer in silence, and a demand for change.”

The post further added, “We try and pay tribute to the courage of ‘Abhaya’, the young doctor who perished and stand in solidarity with all women who face the horrors of gender-based violence. Our song echoes the voices of doctors across the country, who tirelessly serve despite the dangers they face.”

In the same post, the artist mentioned, "This is not simply a protest song—it is a call to action. It is a reminder that our fight for women's safety and dignity is far from over. As we sing, we remember the tireless efforts of those on the frontlines—our doctors, our journalists and our students who deserve not just our respect but our protection." Minutes after the release of the song, it has garnered 2,35,423 views on YouTube.


The post-graduate trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. The family has alleged that the victim was raped and murdered. In a strong display of support, doctors across the nation continue to protest over the murder and alleged sexual assault of a post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor, demanding justice for the victim.
