Mahakali: Prasanth Varma Announces First Female Superhero Film In PVCU, Shares Motion Poster

Prasanth Varma has announced a new movie on the auspicious occasion of Navratri . The director, who gave a blockbuster movie from PVCU (Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe) HanuMan, has shared the title of his third form from PVCU. The director has dropped the motion poster of the movie which will be helmed by Puja Aparna Kolluru.

A look at the 'ferocious' motion poster

Taking to his Instagram handle, Prasanth shared a video announcing the movie Mahakali. The motion poster depicts a young girl touching her head to that of a tiger, while in the background we can see a circus and people fleeing as flames surround the giant Ferris wheel. The movie marks the first female superhero flick in Prasanth Varma's Cinematic Universe.

According to a press note shared by the makers, the movie will be "powerful and socially relevant". “It will feature a bold and refreshing portrayal of the revered Goddess Kali, breaking stereotypes and redefining beauty standards in Indian cinema. The film will explore not only her divine power but also touch upon themes of discrimination, inner strength, and the reclaiming of one’s identity in a world that often overlooks the value of darker skin,” the statement reads.

What else do we know about Mahakali?

The movie is written by Puja Aparnaa Kolluru of Martin Luther King-fame and she will also be directing the superhero flick. The movie will be set in West Bengal and the makers are yet to announce the lead cast. The movie will have music by Smaran Sai. It is being produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under RKD Studios.
