From having a proper foot cleansing routine in place to opting for breathable fabrics, here's how to care for your feet in the winters.

Our feet are arguably the most hard-working part of our body, shouldering the pressure and tension of being on one's feet, all day long. They also happen to be one of the most neglected parts of the body, coming up last on the list of concerns. The need however, to care for one's feet, is at an all-time high during the winters, when the temperatures get colder and the air gets harsher.

Consciously cleaning one's feet

Consciously cleaning one's feet may not come naturally, but this hack is of paramount importance especially if you are somebody who habitually wears socks and closed shoes.


Put simply, fungus thrives in dark places and if one does not have a focused foot cleansing routine in place, they are more likely to develop ailments like toenail fungus, ingrown toenails, and athlete’s foot.

Moisturising is a must

Simply cleaning one's feet will never be enough. Water, especially warm, may be very relaxing to one's feet, as it relaxes the nerve endings. However, they often tend to strip the skin on the feet of its natural oils.


Replenishing these with either a balmy foot cream or a hydrating cold cream is highly recommended, all year round.

The right kind of shoes will go a long way

If you are somebody that habitually wears closed shoes and socks, picking the right kind of fabric is of paramount importance. The goal of socks and shoes is to keep one's feet warm and dry. If you notice your feet are wrinkly after a whole day, it is likely that your socks and shoes are not allowing your feet to breath properly. Wool and moisture-wicking fabrics are much more appreciable picks.
