New Delhi: A 63-year-old man died and four others were injured when their auto-rickshaw was hit by a luxury BMW car in Tilak Marg, central Delhi, early on September 12, police reported on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 5 am as Neeraj Kumar, his father Sachhidanand, his wife Kumari Salma, and two sons, Yashraj and Hansraj, were returning home from New Delhi Railway Station.

A collision occurred near the intersection of Sikandra and Mathura Roads when a BMW car ran a red light and struck an auto rickshaw, causing the vehicle to overturn, according to police reports.

An FIR reveals that the BMW, registered in Himachal Pradesh , jumped the traffic signal and collided with the rickshaw, injuring all five passengers onboard.

Fortunately, the rickshaw driver was unharmed and promptly alerted the police.

Among the injured were Sachidanand and his eight-year-old grandson, Yasraj, who sustained severe injuries.

They were rushed to LNJP Hospital, where Sachidanand sadly succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Friday.

The driver of the BMW has been identified and is expected to be arrested soon.

Authorities have registered a case under Section 281 (rash driving) and Section 125 (endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS at the Tilak Marg Police Station, and the investigation is ongoing.
