18-Year-Old Woman Alleges Rape, Forced Religious Conversion to Islam in Amethi

Amethi: In a horrific incident, a woman aged 18 has filed a complaint for being raped multiple times when she refused forceful religious conversion.

The 18-year-old woman is a resident of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh who alleged that she was being forcefully converted to Islam.

An 18-year-old woman was allegedly raped and forced to convert to Islam here, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place in Ramganj police station area on July 5 and the woman lodged a complaint on Saturday. 

She alleged that she was lured by one of the accused and duped into signing some papers to convert to Islam, Station House Officer (SHO) Yajendra Patel said.

"The woman said that when she refused to convert to Islam, the accused raped her multiple times," he said.

FIR Registered Against 5 People, 3 Arrested

Based on the woman's complaint, an FIR was registered against five people under relevant sections of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act on Saturday, the SHO said. 

Police have arrested three people in the matter whose identities have not been disclosed.

9-Year-Old Girl Raped by Neighbour in UP's Barabanki

In another related news, a nine-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour in the city area on Saturday. The girl, who lives with her widowed mother, was alone in the house when the 25-year-old neighbour entered the premises and raped her. He fled after the crime and the girl was found writhing in pain.

Additional Superintendent of Police Chiranjivi Nath Singh said that the police got the girl admitted to a hospital.
