Bengaluru: A Maoist was arrested from Bengaluru by the Anti-Terrorist Cell (ATC) of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) while he was visiting his girlfriend. The Naxalite has been identified as Anirudh, who hails from Haryana

Anirudh was arrested from the Upparpet area in Bengaluru. The Maoist, who was reportedly working for banned CPI-Maoist group, had managed to evade law enforcement for an extended period.

His arrest follows a visit to Bengaluru to meet his girlfriend, leading to a tip-off about his whereabouts.

Anirudh is accused of circulating banned writings and Maoist literature, actively promoting the ideologies of the CPI-Maoist movement. Despite operating under the radar for a long time, the authorities closely monitored his movements.

Further, a case has been registered at Upparpet police station. This marks a significant development in the efforts to clamp down on Naxalite activities in the city and the broader region.
