A shooting incident occurred at Phoenix Mall in Wakad, Pune, where a man, identified as Vicky Bala Shinde, fired a shot and fled the scene.
Pune: A man identified as Vicky Bala Shinde was detained after firing a shot outside Phoenix Mall in Wakad, Pimpri-Chinchwad on Tuesday evening. The incident, which caused panic among people at the mall, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media.
According to police reports, Shinde exited a white car, lingered near the mall's entry gate, and fired a shot before fleeing the scene. The sound of gunfire caused chaos as people ran in all directions, trying to escape. Shinde was later apprehended by the Wakad Police, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad confirmed that the suspect had been detained and that the shooting was believed to be linked to a quarrel stemming from past enmity. No injuries were reported in the incident.
This shooting comes just days after Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and State Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured the public that the Pune Police are taking swift action to address the recent surge in shooting incidents in the city. Fadnavis reiterated the government's stance, stating, "The Pune police are taking immediate action, arresting those responsible, and ensuring they face punishment. Our government will not tolerate such incidents."
Further investigations by the Wakad Police are underway to determine the exact motive behind the shooting.
