'Terror Angle Cannot Be Ruled Out': Kanpur Police Commissioner on Train Derailment Conspiracy
The Kanpur Police Commissioner has said that 'terror angle cannot be ruled out' in the Kalindi Express derailment conspiracy and an SIT has also been formed.
Kanpur: The Commissioner of Police in Kanpur, Akhil Kumar in a major statement, has said that ‘terror angle cannot be ruled out’ and that an SIT has been formed for investigation. The CP has also been asked about the alleged role of terrorist Farhatullah Ghori in these derailments.
‘Terror Angle Cannot be Ruled Out’: Kanpur CP on Train Derailment Conspiracy
In an exclusive conversation with Republic, Akhil Kumar, Kanpur Police Commissioner has said that in the Kalindi Express derailment conspiracy, a terror angle cannot be ruled out and that a thorough investigation is being conducted.
The Police Commissioner said, “At this stage, terror angle cannot be ruled out and we cannot confirm either. FSL report will come out soon and then based on evidences we will track the accused. This is not a straightforward case, whosoever has done it had taken all the precautions.”
Police Commissioner on Farhatullah Ghori's Involvement in Derailment
Akhil Kumar has also been asked about the alleged role of Farhatullah Ghori, a terorrist whose video went viral where he spoke about conducting several large-scale train derailments across the country to directly hit India's architecture.
On Farhatullah Ghori's role in the derailment, the Kanpur Police Commissioner said, “At this stage we cannot comment that it has any relations with Farhatullah Ghori. Once the arrest will be done then only we will be able to confirm that whether there is a terror angle or not.”
Train Derailment Bid of Kalindi Express
A major train accident was averted on Monday by an alert loco pilot as the Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express was brought to a screeching halt after hitting an LPG cylinder placed on tracks. A bottle of petrol and matchboxes were also found at the site hinting at a sabotage bid following which local police lodged an FIR. A multi-agency probe, including by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti-Terrorist Squad of UP Police, was launched into the matter which officials suspected could have terror links.
"Around half a dozen people, including two local history sheeters, were detained on Monday night. They were let off later after questioning. On Tuesday, the police detained over two dozen other people, including three members of a family. Those being questioned mainly include people with criminal background," a police officer said.
