Mumbai: Mumbai police have recorded the statements of the bodyguards of NCP leader and former minister Baba Siddique, who was murdered recently. According to one of the guards, chilli powder was thrown into his eyes at the moment gunshots were fired at Siddique.
The bodyguard, who was present at the scene, reported that during the attack that he felt a burning sensation in his eyes. He believed a substance similar to chilli powder had been sprayed, which impaired his vision right before the gunfire erupted.
Baba Siddique was provided with 2+1 security detail—two guards during the day and one at night.

Siddique was shot by three assailants outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang is under investigation, as his group has claimed responsibility for the murder. Authorities are also probing a potential business rivalry as another motive. So far, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
Siddique's last rites were conducted at Mumbai’s Bada Qabrastan with state honors.
Agencies to Question Lawrence Bishnoi
Investigative agencies are expected to question Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail, Gujarat , in connection with the murder investigation.
