New Delhi: Emphasizing the adoption of technology across all levels of the judiciary, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Saturday said that by listening to 2.3 crore cases through video conferencing, district courts have achieved a feat that remains “unparalleled” in any part of the world.
Addressing the inaugural event of the two-day National Conference of District Judiciary, CJI Chandrachud said, “There are two important aspects for the judiciary in India today. The first is to do with the adoption of the legal system and second concerns the demographic shift in the judiciary. In 2023-24, 46.48 crores of court records were scanned/digitised. 714 district court websites hosted on the S3WaaS platform. Two days ago we inaugurated the war room in SC which gives us the complete picture of information pertaining to every single court in India.”
“District judiciary has played a crucial role in deploying tech in day-to-day affairs. They have listened to 2.3 crore cases through video conferencing. This achievement is unparalleled in any other country of the world,” CJI added.
“Seventy-five years after Independence, the time has come for us to bury one more relic of the British era - the colonial mindset of subordination," said the CJI.
